21-year-old woman arrested for hiding tramadol in meat pie for boyfriend in police cell

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested by police in Ashaiman for allegedly attempting to smuggle suspected illegal drugs into a police cell by hiding them inside food items intended for her boyfriend in custody.
The suspect, identified as Anita, was reportedly apprehended at the Ashaiman Police Command after officers intercepted the items during a routine inspection.
According to a report by Crime Check TV, Anita had visited the station with a meat pie and yoghurt for her boyfriend, Richard Acquah, who is currently being held by police.

However, officers allegedly discovered suspected tramadol tablets concealed inside the food items before they could be handed over to the detainee.
Reports indicate that suspected Tramadol 250 tablets were hidden in both the meat pie and yoghurt containers, raising suspicion among officers and leading to Anita’s immediate arrest for further investigations.
The circumstances surrounding Richard Acquah’s detention have not yet been disclosed.

The incident has since sparked discussions on social media about the growing abuse and illegal distribution of Tramadol, particularly among young people in Ghana and across West Africa.
Although tramadol is legally prescribed for pain management under strict medical supervision, authorities have repeatedly raised concerns over its misuse and illegal circulation.
