Chad 1-1 Ghana: Black Stars player ratings after late World Cup qualifier blow
GH News Media

Ghana were denied a vital away win in N’Djamena after a stoppage-time equaliser from Celestin Ecua snatched a 1-1 draw for Chad. Jordan Ayew’s first-half strike had given the Black Stars control, but missed chances and a lapse in concentration proved costly.
Here’s how each player performed:
Black Stars Players Rating
Goalkeeper
Benjamin Asare – 7/10
Had a largely quiet evening with Chad rarely threatening until late on. Commanded his box well and distributed with composure. However, he will be disappointed to have conceded so late, though there was little he could do about Ecua’s strike.
Defenders
Caleb Yirenkyi – 5/10
A mixed debut. Defended the right flank with energy but wasted a glorious first-half chance to double Ghana’s lead. Switched off in the dying moments as Chad pressed, showing his inexperience at this level.
Jonas Adjetey – 5/10
Looked solid in phases but lacked authority in organising the backline. Allowed Chad too much space during counters and failed to clear decisively before the equaliser.
Jerome Opoku – 6/10
The more composed the centre-back pairing. Strong in aerial duels and read the game well in the first half, but faded late on as Ghana sat deeper. Needed stronger leadership in the closing minutes.
Gideon Mensah – 5/10
An inconsistent display from the left-back. Linked up well in attack but was sloppy in possession and nearly gifted Chad a chance with a miscontrol. Experience alone wasn’t enough to steady the line.
Midfielders
Salis Abdul Samed – 6/10
Worked hard to screen the defence and recycle possession. Kept the game ticking but was rarely progressive with his passing. Needed more bite to dominate midfield.
Elisha Owusu – 5/10
Struggled to influence the tempo and looked off the pace in transitions. Safe but uninspiring – Ghana needed more dynamism from him in central areas.
Mohammed Kudus – 7/10
Ghana’s creative spark. Provided the assist for Ayew’s opener and constantly sought to break lines. However, he squandered two chances that could have killed the game. A strong display, but not decisive enough.
Forwards
Inaki Williams – 5/10
Worked hard off the ball but lacked sharpness in attack. Missed his only clear chance and was often isolated. Still searching for his rhythm in Ghana colours.
Antoine Semenyo – 6/10
Energetic and direct, but wasteful. Missed two huge chances in the first half that would have sealed the game. His pressing was effective, but his finishing let him down.
Jordan Ayew – 7.5/10
Captain Fantastic. Took his goal well with great movement and composure. Dropped deep to link play and pressed intelligently. However, he faded late on and couldn’t rally the team after Chad equalised.
Substitutes
Kamaldeen Sulemana – 7/10
Injected urgency with his pace and direct dribbling. Had one shot saved and stretched Chad’s defence. Positive impact.
Christopher Bonsu Baah – 6/10
Showed flashes of creativity and linked well with Kudus. Didn’t get enough time to fully influence proceedings.
Ibrahim Sulemana – 5/10
Limited involvement after coming on late. Little impact.
Jerry Afriyie – 5/10
Also introduced too late to change the game. Barely touched the ball.
