Deputy Minister for education hails newly inaugurated Ghana Scholarship Authority Board

The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Apaak, has expressed satisfaction with the inauguration of the new Governing Board of the Ghana Scholarship Authority, describing it as a significant step toward ending political interference and cronyism in the scholarship administration system.
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, the Ministry of Education, led by the sector minister, Haruna Iddrisu, and his deputy, Dr Clement Apaak, officially inaugurated the Governing Board of the Ghana Scholarship Authority.
The Board is composed of representatives from key sector ministries, the Attorney-General’s Department, the Association of Ghana Industries, the Students Loan Fund, civil society organisations in education, and the Authority’s Secretariat, as well as presidential nominees.
Speaking in an interview with the media in the Upper East Region, Dr Apaak noted that the composition of the Board reflects a renewed commitment to transparency and fairness in the award of scholarships.
“As Deputy Minister, I was pleased to witness this important step toward restoring public trust and ensuring that scholarships truly serve deserving students and support Ghana’s long-term human capital development,” he stated.

Dr Apaak further emphasised that the new board is expected to strengthen governance, accountability, and efficiency within the Ghana Scholarship Authority.
