The family of Samuel Aboagye, one of the victims of the recent military helicopter crash, has initiated legal proceedings against his widow over a dispute concerning the paternity of their child.

According to sources close to the family, the late Aboagye had allegedly raised concerns about the paternity of the child before his death.

He is said to have privately confided in relatives that he intended to conduct a DNA test, expressing suspicion due to his wife’s alleged past relationship with a Member of Parliament from the Ashanti Region—whom they claim the child closely resembles.

Following the tragic crash, authorities requested DNA samples from relatives to aid in confirming and matching the identities of the victims. It was during this process that Aboagye’s family sought to include the child’s DNA sample.

However, the widow reportedly declined to allow the test and subsequently travelled to the United States.

In response, the family has filed a lawsuit requesting a court order to compel a DNA test. They argue that the test is necessary to resolve the late Aboagye’s stated concerns and to provide closure.

The widow, through her legal representatives, has countered with an injunction to prevent the test, maintaining that her late husband is indeed the child’s biological father.

She contends that the family’s actions are defamatory and intended to tarnish her reputation.

The case, which has drawn widespread public interest given the emotional and legal implications, is currently before the court. A ruling will determine whether the DNA test will be conducted as part of the proceedings.
