GES opens teacher recruitment nationwide

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially opened applications for the recruitment of new teachers, inviting qualified graduates to apply for positions nationwide.
In a vacancy notice dated April 10, 2026, the Service stated that it is seeking committed and competent individuals holding a Bachelor of Education degree or related qualifications to join its workforce.
According to the announcement, successful candidates will be expected to employ modern, technology-driven teaching methods, support learners with diverse educational needs, and promote the development of strong research skills through digital tools.

In addition, recruits will be required to evaluate student performance using varied assessment approaches while maintaining strict adherence to national professional and ethical standards.
GES further emphasised the importance of continuous professional development, noting that applicants must demonstrate a willingness to stay current with evolving teaching methodologies.
To be eligible, applicants must possess a degree in education or a relevant qualification supplemented by a postgraduate diploma or certificate in education. They must have completed their National Service, hold a valid teaching licence from the National Teaching Council, and exhibit strong communication and classroom management skills. Applicants must also be prepared to accept postings to underserved or deprived areas.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the official recruitment portal by completing an online form and uploading relevant documents, including academic certificates, National Service certificate, teaching licence, Ghana Card, and a passport-sized photograph.
The application window runs from April 10 to April 17, 2026.
GES noted that the recruitment exercise forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s education system by enhancing teaching quality and expanding access to education across the country.
