Airbus Helicopters has announced the signing of a contract with Ghana’s Ministry of Defence for the acquisition of four helicopters, marking the company’s renewed engagement in the Ghanaian market with a commitment to sustained collaboration and enhanced customer support.

Neither Airbus nor the government has disclosed the value of the procurement.

The order comprises two H175M helicopters, one ACH175, and one ACH160. According to Airbus, the H175M units will serve as multi-role platforms capable of supporting troop and cargo transport, search and rescue missions, medical evacuation, and humanitarian or disaster-relief operations.

The ACH175 and ACH160 are expected to be deployed primarily for transport duties.

Arnaud Montalvo, Head of Africa and the Middle East at Airbus Helicopters, described the agreement as a clear demonstration of Ghana’s renewed strategic alignment with the manufacturer.

He added that Ghana’s adoption of the H175M underscores the model’s adaptability across defence and security operations, while also positioning the country as a key regional operator of Airbus’ premium corporate helicopter line.

The H175, operational since 2014, is classified as a super-medium helicopter, engineered to deliver long-range performance, strong payload capacity and superior flight comfort.

It is configured for a wide variety of missions, including military and public-service roles, offshore operations, private aviation, and emergency response assignments.

Meanwhile, the ACH160, the latest member of the Airbus Corporate Helicopters portfolio, is widely recognised as the most technologically advanced helicopter currently available.

The aircraft integrates 68 patented innovations and provides up to 20 per cent more cabin volume per passenger than earlier-generation medium twin models, complemented by significantly larger windows that offer the brightest cabin environment in its class.
