Ghana Weather Today: GMet forecasts rain, mist and thunderstorms – See affected areas

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast widespread rain, mist and thunderstorms across various parts of the country today, cautioning residents to prepare for wet and cloudy weather conditions from morning through the evening.
According to GMet's latest 18-hour weather outlook, light to moderate rainfall is expected this morning along portions of the coast and in some communities within the Oti Region. The agency says intermittent showers are likely to persist in several coastal areas throughout the afternoon and evening.
Much of the country is expected to wake up to mostly cloudy skies, while mist and patches of fog are forecast over forested and mountainous areas during the early hours of the day. These conditions could significantly reduce visibility, especially for motorists travelling through highland and forest zones.
As temperatures rise during the day, thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall are expected to develop across the middle belt, transition zone and northern sectors of Ghana. GMet predicts that these weather systems will become more active from late afternoon and continue into the evening hours.
Greater Accra, Volta and Middle Belt Areas Could See Moderate Weather Impacts.
GMet's impact-based forecast suggests that weather-related risks will remain generally low across most parts of the country. However, some coastal communities, particularly within the Greater Accra and Volta regions, could experience moderate impacts due to intermittent rainfall during the afternoon.

Similar conditions are expected across parts of the middle belt later in the day, where thunderstorms and showers may affect outdoor activities and transportation.
Temperatures to Remain Mild Despite Wet Conditions
Despite the anticipated rainfall, temperatures are expected to remain relatively moderate nationwide.
Coastal areas are forecast to record minimum temperatures of around 23°C and maximum temperatures of approximately 30°C. Communities within the forest and transition zones are expected to experience temperatures ranging between 22°C and 33°C.
Northern Ghana is projected to be the warmest part of the country, with temperatures rising from about 25°C in the morning to as high as 34°C during the afternoon.
Weather Outlook for Major Cities
In Accra, residents should expect light rainfall during the morning, followed by increased showers in the afternoon before conditions ease later in the evening under mostly cloudy skies.

Similar weather patterns are forecast for Tema, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi and Axim, where intermittent rainfall is expected throughout much of the day.
In the forest zone, including Kumasi, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Goaso, misty conditions are expected during the morning hours before giving way to thunderstorms or cloudy skies later in the day.
Meanwhile, northern cities such as Tamale, Yendi, Wa, Bolgatanga, Bole and Nalerigu are likely to experience cloudy conditions in the morning, with thunderstorms becoming more widespread during the afternoon and evening.
GMet Warns of Rough Sea Conditions
The agency has also warned that sea conditions are expected to remain rough and has advised fishermen, coastal residents and other users of marine waters to exercise caution.
GMet is urging the public to stay informed through official weather updates and factor the possibility of rainfall, reduced visibility and thunderstorms into their travel, business and outdoor plans throughout the day.
