President John Dramani Mahama has expressed concern over the stalled progress of a government project that was expected to have been completed with funds secured through a loan facility.

Speaking during an inspection tour, the President said he was troubled by reports that the allocated loan had been exhausted while the project still remained incomplete.

“We need to find out why the loan for this project wasn’t enough,” President Mahama stated.

He emphasised that the government had taken steps to secure financing for the project, making the lack of progress puzzling.

“A loan was taken for this project, and I don’t understand why the money is finished and the project is not over,” he added.

As part of efforts to address the challenges, the President revealed that the project had now been incorporated into the government’s Big Push Programme, a flagship initiative designed to accelerate infrastructure development across the country.

“We’ve moved this contract into the Big Push Programme, and adequate provision has been made. I believe there will be enough resources to keep the contractors going,” President Mahama assured.

The President further pledged his administration’s commitment to ensuring that resources allocated under the Big Push Programme are properly utilised to deliver value for money and accelerate completion of key national projects.
