According to the directive, the relevant sector ministers have been instructed to take all necessary steps to give effect to the dissolution in accordance with the applicable laws and governing instruments of the respective institutions.
Boards to be reconstituted
The Presidency said the dissolution is not permanent, indicating that the affected boards will be reconstituted in due course.
The move will pave the way for the appointment of new board members to oversee the operations of the affected state institutions.
The institutions involved play significant roles in Ghana's economy, from managing petroleum storage and national oil interests to banking, road maintenance, aluminium production, postal services, housing development and sports administration.
The directive therefore places the relevant sector ministers at the centre of the transition as the government prepares to constitute new governing boards.
