Major parts of Accra West to be hit by water shortages – see full list

Residents across several communities in western Accra are expected to experience interruptions in water supply following technical difficulties at the Weija Water Treatment Plant, Ghana Water Ltd has announced.
In a statement issued on May 13, 2026, the company explained that the ongoing technical issues have affected water production and distribution, resulting in low water pressure and irregular water flow in parts of the capital.
According to Ghana Water Ltd, engineers and technical personnel are currently working to resolve the challenges and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

The company advised residents in the affected areas to store water whenever supply is available to help manage the temporary disruption.
Ghana Water Ltd also encouraged essential service providers and residents requiring urgent assistance to contact their assembly members or use the company’s customer service channels for support during the outage period.
Management further apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused and appealed for patience and cooperation while repair works continue.
