The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Amoah, popularly known as Biggie, in connection with the gruesome murder of three people at Tuba Net-Link Estates, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.

Addressing journalists in Accra on Saturday, September 20, the Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, explained that the killings occurred on May 19, 2024, following a distress call reporting a violent attack in a residence.

Police officers who responded to the scene discovered the lifeless body of 39-year-old Alberta Hagan and two of her children in their bedroom, lying in a pool of blood. A third child was found alive but critically injured, with multiple deep lacerations to the head and bleeding from the ear.

A five-month-old baby was located unharmed on a sofa in the living room. The injured child was immediately rushed to the hospital, while the deceased were taken to the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

“Postmortem examinations confirmed that the victims died as a result of severe head injuries caused by assault,” COP Donkor disclosed.

Subsequent investigations pointed to Amoah, who had been in a romantic relationship with Ms Hagan, as the prime suspect. According to police, the relationship had deteriorated over financial disagreements, leading to a violent altercation.

“In a fit of rage, the suspect attacked Alberta and the two children who witnessed the incident,” COP Donkor said.

Amoah fled the scene and successfully evaded arrest for more than a year. However, through sustained intelligence-led operations, police apprehended him on September 17, 2025, at Suhum in the Eastern Region.

During interrogation, he admitted to the crime and expressed remorse for his actions. He remains in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and will soon face trial on multiple charges, including murder.

“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that this case is being handled with urgency and professionalism to ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families,” COP Donkor emphasised.

The arrest of Amoah brings a crucial breakthrough in a case that has gripped the nation with shock and grief.
