Asante queenmothers play a central role in preserving the kingdom’s customs and traditions, promoting social cohesion, and advising the Asantehene on matters relating to governance, succession and community welfare.

Like her predecessor, Nana Ama Bonsu I is expected to serve as a custodian of the welfare of women and children while playing a vital role in conflict resolution, cultural preservation and the promotion of the kingdom’s values.

Her installation fills one of the most important traditional leadership positions in the Asante Kingdom and is expected to further strengthen the kingdom’s governance structures while continuing the legacy associated with the office of the Asantehemaa.

Traditional leaders, dignitaries and members of the Asante Kingdom attended the ceremony to witness the official presentation of Nana Ama Bonsu I, reaffirming their commitment to the customs, traditions and institutions of the kingdom.
