Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has maintained that the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation targeting Iran will not escalate into a prolonged conflict.

Speaking in an interview on Hannity on Fox News on Monday, Netanyahu described the campaign as a “quick and decisive action” aimed at reshaping conditions within Iran.

Rejecting suggestions that the operation could spiral into an extended war, Netanyahu told host Sean Hannity that the objective was not open-ended military engagement but a focused strategy designed to create what he characterised as an opportunity for the Iranian people to determine their own political future through democratic means.

During the interview, which was promoted earlier in the day by U.S. President Donald Trump on social media, Netanyahu repeatedly commended Trump’s leadership and decision-making.

He praised the president’s decisiveness and clarity, describing his approach as instrumental in executing the airstrike campaign.

Netanyahu also recounted a prior meeting with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, stating that the president had emphasised, without prompting, the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. According to Netanyahu, Trump made clear from the outset that stopping Iran’s nuclear ambitions was a priority.

Addressing the timing of the operation, Netanyahu argued that intelligence assessments indicated Iran was rebuilding its missile capabilities at a pace that could soon have rendered military intervention ineffective.

He contended that immediate action was necessary, asserting that delaying the strikes might have foreclosed future options.
