NPP sets September 19 for National Delegates Conference
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will hold its National Delegates Conference on Saturday, September 19, 2026, where delegates will elect new national executives and deliberate on key issues affecting the party.
The decision was taken by the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) and subsequently approved by the National Council during separate meetings held on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 8, and signed by the party's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said the conference would be held in accordance with Article 10(1) of the party's constitution.
“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, as the date for its National Delegates Conference, at which delegates will, among other matters, elect national officers of the party pursuant to Article 10(1) of the party constitution," the statement said.
The conference is expected to be one of the party's most important internal events as it prepares for the next phase of its organisational and political activities.
NPP Invites Constitutional Amendment Proposals
As part of preparations for the conference, the NPP has also launched a constitutional review process, inviting members and stakeholders to submit proposals for amendments to the party's constitution.
According to the statement, the invitation is being made under Article 19(2) of the party's constitution.
“Ahead of the conference, the General Secretary, acting pursuant to Article 19(2) of the Party Constitution, hereby formally invites proposals for amendments to the Party’s Constitution,” the statement said.
The party explained that the proposals will be considered as part of discussions aimed at strengthening its governance structures and improving its internal democratic processes.
How to Submit Proposals
The NPP said members and stakeholders can submit their proposals either in person at the Office of the General Secretary at the party's national headquarters or electronically via nppconstitutionalamendment@gmail.com.
The party has set Friday, July 17, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of all proposed amendments.
“The deadline for the submission of all proposals is Friday, July 17,” the statement added.

The opposition party encouraged its members to actively participate in the constitutional review exercise, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen the party's structures and enhance internal governance.
According to the NPP, the review process is intended to introduce reforms that will improve the party's operations while reinforcing its democratic principles.
“The Party encourages all members and stakeholders to take advantage of this constitutional review process by submitting proposals that will further strengthen the Party’s structures, enhance its internal democratic processes, and promote effective governance,” the statement said.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to constitutionalism, the rule of law and internal democracy as it prepares for the National Delegates Conference.
“As the Party prepares for its National Delegates Conference, it remains committed to constitutionalism, internal democracy, and the rule of law, ensuring adherence to the Party Constitution and its democratic traditions,” the statement said.
