President Mahama nominates Pamela Graham as Auditor-General

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated public finance expert Pamela Graham for the position of auditor-general, pending consultation with the Council of State.

The nomination, communicated by the secretary to the president, is in accordance with Article 70(1)(b) of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates the president to seek the Council’s advice prior to making a final appointment.

According to sources, the decision forms part of a broader strategy by the presidency to enhance financial oversight and restore public confidence in key governance institutions.

Pamela Graham is widely regarded for her extensive expertise in public financial management, auditing, and institutional governance, as well as her strong reputation for integrity and professionalism.

The Auditor-General plays a pivotal role in Ghana’s accountability architecture, overseeing the auditing of public accounts and ensuring adherence to financial laws and regulations across state institutions.

The Council of State is expected to review the nomination in the coming days and provide its counsel to the president.

If approved, Graham will succeed Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, who has served in the role since his appointment in September 2021.
