Prophet arrested for setting ex-girlfriend's house on fire after break-up

Police in the Assin South District of Ghana’s Central Region have arrested a self-styled prophet over allegations that he set fire to the home of his former partner, leaving the woman and her children homeless.
The suspect, identified as Mark Dzimah, is the founder and leader of Christ Pentecostal Church. Reports indicate he was arrested in connection with the alleged attack at Abura Kwaduagya.
Confirming the development, District Police Commander Robert Kyeremeh said investigations are ongoing. He added that the suspect has denied the allegations but will be put before court after investigations are completed.
The victim, Joyce Akomaning, a 47-year-old seamstress, said she ended her relationship with the suspect in an attempt to escape what she described as repeated physical and emotional abuse. She believes the alleged fire incident was a retaliatory act following the breakup.

According to reports, the fire broke out around 9:00 p.m. and completely destroyed her single-room residence, along with all her belongings.
Speaking after the incident, she said she had lost everything and was struggling to rebuild her life.
The Ghana National Fire Service reportedly responded from Abura Dunkwa but was unable to save the structure due to poor access roads and the narrow layout of the settlement.
Joyce Akomaning and her two children are currently displaced and relying on support from friends for temporary shelter.
She has also expressed concern over the pace of investigations, noting that two months have passed since the incident. She appealed to authorities to speed up the process and ensure justice is served.
Items reportedly destroyed in the fire included three industrial sewing machines, television sets, cash, personal documents, and school materials belonging to her children.
Police say the case remains under active investigation, with the suspect currently on bail pending further action.
