We have averted 'dumsor' – John Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed that his government has successfully tackled the persistent, unpredictable, and irregular electricity blackouts popularly known as “dumsor” that plagued Ghana in the past.
Addressing the nation at his first presidential media encounter, Mahama explained that his administration had managed to resolve the chronic energy crises inherited from the previous Nana Akufo-Addo-led government.

He highlighted how issues such as power shortages, infrastructure failures, economic struggles, and years of poor governance had all contributed to the crisis.
“We have been able to avert ‘dumsor’, which was handed to us,” the president said with confidence.

Mahama emphasised that stabilising the energy sector was not only crucial for households but also for industries and businesses that had long suffered from unreliable power supply.
According to him, sustained investment in energy infrastructure and improved management strategies have placed Ghana on a path toward consistent and reliable electricity delivery.
