The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, says the party will not be intimidated by the recent arrests involving some of its members, insisting that it will continue to engage the public and promote its ideas.

His comments follow growing concerns within the NPP over the arrest of some party members by security agencies.

Among the recent cases are the arrest of the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, and the Agona West NPP Organiser, David Essendoh.

Speaking at a meeting with student leaders at the University of Ghana on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, ahead of a three-day boot camp organised by the party, Dr. Bawumia said the NPP would respond through political engagement rather than fear.Ghanaian Culture Blog

“We will take the debate and idea to the country, and we will make our case. We are, however, saying that we will not be intimidated,” he said.

“You can arrest all of us. We will come back and make our case to the people of Ghana,” he added.
