Black Princesses of Ghana beat South Korea in U-20 Women’s World Cup
The Black Princesses of Ghana defeated South Korea 3-1 in their second group game at the ongoing U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland on Wednesday afternoon.
Goals from Ruth Amponsah, Ivy Osei Owusu, and Sarah Nyarko were enough for the Black Princesses to secure their first win after losing 3-0 to Ecuador in their opening game.
Ghana scored twice in a devastating three-minute spell to put themselves on course for the knockout stages for the first time in their history. The Black Princesses have participated in seven previous U-20 World Cups, dating back to 2010, but have failed to escape the group stage each time.
They are now in line to do so in Poland after bouncing back from their opening 3-0 defeat to Ecuador with a convincing victory over South Korea.

Captain Sarah Nyarko gave Ghana the lead with a neat strike, and, after missing a glorious earlier chance, Ivy Osei Owusu doubled the advantage with a deflected effort from the edge of the area.
Substitute Ruth Amponsah then sealed the victory with another deflected strike.
South Korea pulled one goal back late in the game through Beom Yeju, who found the net with a long-distance effort.
After drawing with France in their opening game, South Korea now has it all to do to reach the Round of 16.
