Mexico supporters created a lively atmosphere outside England's team hotel ahead of the two nations' FIFA World Cup Round of 16 showdown, with fireworks, drums and a live band used in an attempt to disrupt the Three Lions' preparations.

England are gearing up for a highly anticipated knockout clash against tournament co-hosts Mexico after coming from behind to defeat DR Congo and secure their place in the last 16.

Videos circulating on social media showed groups of Mexico fans assembling outside England's hotel late into the night. Supporters were seen setting off fireworks, playing musical instruments, beating drums and using megaphones in a bid to create noise ahead of the crucial encounter.

Several motorists also joined the effort, sounding their horns as they passed near the team base.

However, strict security measures limited how close supporters could get to the hotel.

Armed police officers established a strong security presence around the England camp, creating multiple layers of protection around the hotel.

Road closures and security checkpoints made access difficult, while riot police, police vans and steel barriers were deployed to secure the area.

Reports indicated that supporters were forced to gather on a nearby bridge after being prevented from approaching the hotel directly.

The hotel itself was also heavily guarded, with additional private security stationed at entrances and around the perimeter.

Despite the late-night noise, England's security staff reportedly dismissed concerns that the disturbances had any significant impact on the players' preparations.

Officials maintained that the squad remained focused on the challenge ahead and were not affected by the activities outside the hotel.

The latest episode comes after Ecuador reportedly lodged a complaint during the tournament, claiming Mexico supporters had used similar tactics before their World Cup Round of 32 meeting.

Mexico's passionate fan base is renowned for creating intimidating atmospheres both at home and abroad, and supporters once again sought to rally behind their team before a major knockout fixture.

With a place in the quarter-finals at stake, both England and Mexico will be eager to secure victory in what is expected to be one of the standout matches of the tournament.

While Mexico fans attempted to gain a psychological edge through their vocal support, attention will now turn to events on the pitch as the two sides battle for a place in the next round of the FIFA World Cup.
