Barcelona crush Newcastle in a 9-goal thriller to reach Champions League quarter-finals

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha were in sensational form as Barcelona dismantled Newcastle United 8-3 on aggregate to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Catalan giants secured a 7-2 victory in the second leg at Camp Nou, completing a dominant performance over the Premier League side.
Standout performers included Raphinha and Yamal, while Robert Lewandowski, Fermin Lopez, and Marc Bernal also found the net. The win sets up a last-eight clash against either Atletico Madrid or Tottenham Hotspur.

Barcelona wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, taking the lead inside six minutes when Raphinha calmly slotted past Aaron Ramsdale after a brilliant through ball from Yamal.
Newcastle responded quickly as Anthony Elanga netted just nine minutes later, keeping the first half open and end-to-end.
Bernal restored Barcelona’s advantage following a cleverly executed free-kick routine, but Elanga struck again from Harvey Barnes’ low cross before the half-hour mark.

The hosts reclaimed the lead before halftime, with Yamal converting a penalty after Kieran Trippier fouled Raphinha inside the box.
The second half saw Barcelona pull away. Newcastle were repeatedly exposed through the middle, allowing Fermin Lopez to face Ramsdale one-on-one and slot the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Lewandowski then completed the rout, first finishing a move expertly set up by Yamal and later heading in from Raphinha’s inswinging corner. Raphinha capped the scoring with a clinical finish after capitalising on a misplaced pass from Jacob Ramsey, sealing a 7-2 second-leg triumph.
