Hilda described the accomplishment as the result of “nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork”, revealing that the effort consumed 1,200 kg of gas to prepare over 16,600 plates of jollof rice, each served with “joy, love, and community”.
Held in Lagos, the historic event attracted thousands of food lovers, fans, and well-wishers eager to witness Nigerian culinary history being made. The dish was prepared using approximately 250 bags of rice blended with fresh tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices—celebrating the richness of Nigeria’s culinary heritage.
This isn’t Hilda’s first time in the global spotlight. In 2023, she earned worldwide acclaim after setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, a milestone that propelled her to international fame.
