The high-profile friendly, played in Foxborough, saw both sides field strong line-ups as they fine-tuned their squads. Brazil started brightly, with Raphinha and Gabriel Martinelli both going close in an open, fast-paced contest.

France took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Ousmane Dembélé released Kylian Mbappé, who calmly chipped the ball over Ederson.

Brazil pushed for an equaliser after the break but were dealt a setback when Dayot Upamecano was sent off following a VAR review. Despite the numerical disadvantage, France doubled their lead through Hugo Ekitike after a quick counter-attack.

Brazil pulled one back late on through Bremer but could not find a leveller. While Didier Deschamps will be encouraged by his side’s resilience, Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti faces work to do ahead of the tournament.
