Team Ghana sets national record to reach 4x100m relay final in Tokyo

Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team delivered a stunning performance to win their heat and secure qualification for the finals at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The quartet of Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu powered to victory in 37.79 seconds, setting a new national record in the process. Their flawless baton exchanges and explosive pace saw them dominate the field from start to finish.

The Netherlands followed closely in 37.95 seconds, while host nation Japan claimed the third qualifying spot with a time of 38.07 seconds.
The heat was not without drama, as pre-race favourites Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and South Africa failed to complete their runs, crashing out of the competition.

Meanwhile, in the other heat, sprint powerhouse Jamaica also suffered disappointment. Silver medallist in the men’s 100m, Kishane Thompson, was unable to collect the baton during the final exchange, costing his team a place in the final.
Ghana’s record-breaking run has fuelled excitement ahead of the finals, where the team will look to challenge the world’s best and continue their historic campaign.
