Barcelona wrapped up their pre-season in emphatic style with a 5-0 demolition of Serie A side Como 1907 in the Joan Gamper Trophy, delivering a performance that oozed confidence ahead of next weekend’s La Liga opener against Mallorca.
On a warm evening at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, Hansi Flick’s side displayed ruthless efficiency and attacking flair, scoring four times before the break and completely controlling the match from start to finish.
The result capped an unbeaten pre-season in which the Catalans netted 20 goals in four matches.
## Fermín López at the Double
Midfielder Fermín López was the standout performer, scoring twice in the first half to set Barça on their way.
His opener came after Como’s defence misjudged a pass out from the back, allowing López to pounce and curl a low strike into the bottom corner.
The 22-year-old doubled his tally 15 minutes later, latching onto Frenkie de Jong’s clever cutback and smashing an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
It was a display of composure and precision that earned him the MVP award at full-time.
## Raphinha and Yamal Turn Up the Heat
Barcelona’s press forced Como into repeated errors, and the third goal was a product of sharp movement and vision.
Marcus Rashford, operating wide on the left, delivered a pinpoint cross to the far post where Raphinha arrived to slot home.
Moments later, the Brazilian turned provider. Stealing possession deep in the Como box, he squared the ball for teenage sensation Lamine Yamal to tap in from close range, making it 4-0 before half-time and all but sealing the result.
## Lamine Adds Another After the Break
FC Barcelona
Flick opted for fewer changes than in previous friendlies, keeping much of his starting XI on the pitch to maintain rhythm.
That decision paid off within minutes of the restart when Ferran Torres whipped in a curling pass to Yamal, who guided the ball calmly past the goalkeeper for his second of the evening.
From then on, Barça managed the game at a slower tempo, focusing on possession and defensive shape while Como pushed to limit the damage.
Despite the visitors showing greater discipline, they rarely threatened to break through Barcelona’s high line.
## A Pre-Season Statement
With four straight wins, 20 goals scored, and only two conceded, Barcelona head into the 2025/26 season with momentum and confidence.
The combination of experienced leaders and emerging talents like López and Yamal suggests a side capable of competing on multiple fronts.
Next Saturday’s trip to Mallorca will provide the first official test, but on the evidence of this match, Barcelona look sharp, hungry, and ready to challenge for silverware from the very start.
