Ghana Weather Today: Rain and thunderstorms forecast for Accra, Kumasi and other Regions

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has predicted rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the country today, Monday, June 22, 2026, while warning residents to remain vigilant as weather conditions are expected to change throughout the day.
According to GMet, patches of mist and fog are likely to form over forested and mountainous areas during the early hours of the morning, reducing visibility in some locations.
Along the coast, mostly cloudy conditions are expected, with the possibility of light rainfall in some areas. However, parts of southern Ghana are forecast to experience brief sunny intervals from mid-morning through to the afternoon.

Despite the sunshine, GMet says thunderstorms and rainfall are likely to develop later in the day across sections of the coastal, forest and transition zones.
Major cities that could be affected include Accra, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Ho, Koforidua, Kumasi and Sunyani, where residents may experience varying degrees of rainfall and thunderstorms.
In northern Ghana, generally sunny conditions are expected to prevail for most of the day. Nonetheless, isolated thunderstorms or rain showers may occur in some communities from late afternoon into the evening.

Temperature readings are forecast to range from a maximum of 31°C along the coast to as high as 35°C in parts of northern Ghana. Minimum temperatures across the country are expected to fall between 21°C and 25°C.
GMet has advised the public, particularly those in areas prone to thunderstorms, to take the necessary precautions and stay updated on weather developments throughout the day.
The agency also cautioned that sea conditions are expected to be rough, urging fishermen, coastal residents and other users of the sea to exercise extra care.
