Gunmen open fire on Sarah Adwoa Safo’s vehicle – Reports

Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo is reportedly receiving medical care after gunmen allegedly opened fire on her vehicle near the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, also known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.

The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday at the premises of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena’s residence, where he was reportedly meeting supporters in relation to efforts to position him as successor to his late father, Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo.

According to reports, officers from the Dome District Police Command were swiftly deployed to the scene after being alerted as tensions escalated in the area.

Witnesses allege that Adwoa Safo was present when armed men, reportedly acting on instructions linked to Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, opened fire on her vehicle. The attackers are said to have discharged about 15 rounds of ammunition, with one bullet allegedly grazing her neck.

She was immediately rushed to a medical facility and is currently undergoing treatment. Sources close to her indicate that she is in stable condition.

The incident comes amid rising tensions within the Kristo Asafo family over the leadership succession following the death of Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo.

The matter has already sparked legal disputes involving attempts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the next head of the church.

As of now, the Ghana Police Service has not issued an official statement on the reported shooting.
