Renowned Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has once again secured her place in the Guinness World Records, this time for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing an astonishing 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz).
The record-breaking feat, achieved in partnership with Gino Nigeria on Friday, September 12, 2025, was officially confirmed by Guinness World Records, which hailed the remarkable achievement.
Hilda described the accomplishment as the result of ânine hours of fire, passion, and teamworkâ, revealing that the effort consumed 1,200 kg of gas to prepare over 16,600 plates of jollof rice, each served with âjoy, love, and communityâ.
Held in Lagos, the historic event attracted thousands of food lovers, fans, and well-wishers eager to witness Nigerian culinary history being made. The dish was prepared using approximately 250 bags of rice blended with fresh tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spicesâcelebrating the richness of Nigeriaâs culinary heritage.
This isnât Hildaâs first time in the global spotlight. In 2023, she earned worldwide acclaim after setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, a milestone that propelled her to international fame.
Reflecting on her latest success, Hilda said she was proud not just of the record itself but of the opportunity to once again showcase Nigerian cuisine on the world stage.
The project was made possible through the support of professional chefs, volunteers, and technical teams who ensured accuracy, safety, and proper documentation throughout the process.
