The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released an online database identifying foreign nationals it describes as “the worst of the worst” criminal offenders facing deportation.

The database, maintained by DHS and managed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), contains the names, photographs, and records of non-citizens convicted of various offences and currently undergoing immigration enforcement proceedings.

Among those listed are 32 Ghanaians accused or convicted of crimes ranging from shoplifting and fraud to domestic violence, weapons-related offences, child cruelty, and credit card-related fraud.

They are part of a wider group of at least 355 West African nationals, including individuals from Liberia and Cameroon, who have been flagged for removal from the United States.

The publication comes amid intensified immigration enforcement under the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. DHS data indicates that 478 Ghanaians were arrested by ICE in 2025 alone.

As of October 2025, approximately 2,470 Ghanaian nationals were being held in U.S. detention facilities pending deportation—one of the highest figures recorded for any African country.

Official figures further show that 312 Ghanaians were deported to Accra between January and August 2025, marking a 17% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Authorities link the rise in arrests and removals to stricter immigration policies, including the Global Enforceme

nt Initiative launched in April 2025, as well as an executive order issued in February 2025 prioritising the removal of individuals with criminal convictions or those deemed national security risks.

However, U.S. immigration officials emphasise that an ICE arrest does not automatically lead to deportation, as each case is subject to legal and administrative review.
