The final whistle at the Santiago Bernabéu confirmed another hard-fought victory for Real Madrid, as Xabi Alonso’s men overturned an early scare to beat Mallorca 2-1 and move to the top of the LaLiga table.

Mallorca stunned the home crowd in the first half when Vedat Muriqi rose above Aurélien Tchouaméni to meet Pablo Torre’s corner, guiding a clever backward header into the bottom-right corner.

The Kosovo striker’s effort gave the visitors hope of a shock result, but Madrid quickly struck back.

Moments later, Turkish starlet Arda Güler levelled the score with a close-range finish, nodding into an empty net after Jorrel Hato Huijsen battled well at the far post to keep the attack alive.

The decisive moment came midway through the second half when Vinícius Júnior, Madrid’s talisman, produced a moment of brilliance.

The Brazilian cut inside before rifling a crisp left-footed strike from 18 yards into the bottom-right corner, sending the Bernabéu into raptures.

Mallorca almost equalised through substitute Javi Costa, but his effort was dramatically cleared off the line by Álvaro Carreras.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, could have extended their lead but saw three goals ruled out—two for offside and one for handball.

The result means Real Madrid sit top of LaLiga with three wins from three, albeit having played one game more than Villarreal, Barcelona, and Athletic Club.
