Ghanaian dancehall icon Shatta Wale has lauded the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for its professionalism following his release from custody in connection with an ongoing probe into the importation of his yellow Lamborghini.
In a social media post shared shortly after regaining his freedom, the musician, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, expressed appreciation to EOCO officials for their conduct during his detention, describing the process as orderly and respectful.
"To all the staff of EOCO, you guys have been wonderful. At least when I came there, you really took me through the rightful processes that were needed," he stated.
Initially, the award-winning artiste was granted bail of GH¢10 million with two sureties. However, following a review, the conditions were reduced to GH¢5 million with two sureties, enabling his release on Thursday.
The case has attracted nationwide attention, drawing large crowds of Shatta Movement supporters who gathered outside EOCO’s headquarters to show solidarity and demand his release.
Investigations centre on alleged procedural breaches in the importation of the luxury vehicle, with EOCO yet to disclose the next steps in the matter.
Confirming his safe return home, Shatta Wale reassured his fans in another social media update: "Shatta is safe, your king is safe, 1 Don is safe, and I'm home now."
He further expressed gratitude to his management team and loyal fanbase for their unwavering support during what he described as a difficult chapter.
EOCO has not yet issued an official statement on the progression of its inquiry.
