Black Stars Team Bus

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has removed $5,000 (approximately GH₵59,000) from the Black Stars’ budget, an amount that had been allocated to fuel the team bus.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams disclosed this during a press briefing on the budget for Ghana’s senior national football team. In recent years, the Black Stars’ expenditure has faced intense public scrutiny due to the significant sums allocated for team operations.

Mr Adams explained that the briefing was in line with President John Mahama’s directive to promote transparency and accountability in national team spending.

A key highlight of the financial update was the revision of the Black Stars’ budget from the previous $1 million per game to a consolidated $1.3 million for the upcoming double-header against Chad on September 4 and Mali on September 8.

From this allocation, $841,290 has been earmarked for the away game in Chad, while $436,600 has been budgeted for the home fixture against Mali in Accra.

Another notable adjustment was the removal of the $5,000 allocation for fueling the team bus, which had been proposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
