Semenyo fires Manchester City to FA Cup glory against Chelsea

Manchester City secured their second trophy of the season after a brilliant strike from Antoine Semenyo sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
In a tightly contested encounter that lacked sustained attacking quality, Semenyo produced the decisive moment in the second half to hand Pep Guardiola’s side another major domestic title.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made several tactical adjustments to his starting lineup, surprisingly leaving Rayan Cherki on the bench while handing Omar Marmoush a starting role.
City struggled to find rhythm during the opening half, while Chelsea appeared the more dangerous side despite failing to seriously test goalkeeper James Trafford.

Chelsea controlled periods of possession and looked threatening going forward, although City created notable chances through Erling Haaland, who forced Robert Sanchez into an important save. City also had a goal ruled out after Matheus Nunes was adjudged offside in the build-up.
The introduction of Cherki after the break failed to immediately improve City’s attacking intensity, with Chelsea continuing to push forward and appeal unsuccessfully for several penalty decisions.
However, the breakthrough finally arrived in the 72nd minute through a moment of brilliance from Semenyo.
Haaland raced behind Chelsea’s defence before delivering a low cross into the box, where Semenyo produced a sensational flicked finish past Sanchez to send the City supporters into celebration.

Chelsea nearly responded instantly, but Enzo Fernández fired over the bar from a promising position.
City later missed opportunities to extend their advantage as Nico O’Reilly and Cherki both squandered clear chances, while Chelsea substitute Liam Delap also headed over late in the game.
Despite the narrow scoreline, Manchester City held firm to secure the FA Cup title, adding it to their EFL Cup triumph earlier this season.
Guardiola’s side also remains in contention for a possible domestic treble as the Premier League title race heads into the final week of the campaign.
