Paris Saint-Germain suffered only their third Ligue 1 defeat of the campaign after a commanding 3–1 loss to Stade Rennais FC at Roazhon Park on Friday night.

Rennes entered the fixture amid managerial upheaval, having parted ways with Habib Beye earlier in the week following a disappointing run of results. Interim boss Sébastien Tambouret, who stepped up from the reserve side, guided the hosts to an impressive and morale-boosting victory over Luis Enrique’s reigning champions.

Despite PSG’s bright opening, Rennes broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Mousa Tamari outmanoeuvred Willian Pacho, cut inside and rifled a low effort into the bottom-left corner. The visitors nearly produced an immediate reply before the interval, but João Neves glanced a cross from Nuno Mendes narrowly wide.

Rennes continued to threaten after the restart. A heavy touch from Illia Zabarnyi early in the second half gifted Arnaud Nordin a clear opportunity, though he failed to hit the target under pressure. The home side eventually doubled their advantage in the 69th minute when Esteban Lepaul powered home a header from a well-delivered corner by Sebastian Szymanski.

PSG responded swiftly, as Ousmane Dembélé reduced the deficit just two minutes later by flicking a deflected Mendes cross beyond Brice Samba. However, any hopes of a comeback were extinguished nine minutes from time when Breel Embolo combined effectively with fellow substitute Ludovic Blas before chesting home to secure Rennes’ first league victory since early January.
