Hearts of Oak edge Nations FC to boost top-three hopes in Ghana Premier League

Accra Hearts of Oak secured a vital 1-0 victory over Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The decisive moment came in the 11th minute when Mawuli Wayo found the back of the net with a clinical finish. The forward pressed high up the pitch, latched onto a well-timed pass from Hussein, and calmly slotted home to give the Phobians an early lead.

After taking the lead, Hearts of Oak maintained control for much of the game, displaying strong organisation and discipline at the back. Their defensive structure effectively limited Nations FC’s attacking threats, forcing the hosts into long-range and speculative attempts that failed to test the goalkeeper.
Nations FC, who were desperate for points to distance themselves from the relegation zone, responded with urgency after conceding. However, they lacked cutting edge in the final third and were unable to break down Hearts’ resilient defence.
Big Boost in League Standings
The win strengthens Hearts of Oak’s push for a top-three finish as the Ghana Premier League season enters its final stages. Meanwhile, Nations FC remains under pressure in the lower half of the table.
The Phobians will now turn their attention to their next home fixture against Karela United as they aim to finish the season strongly, with four matches remaining.
